Position Overview
The Global Benefits Administrator is responsible for managing and administering employee benefits programs, ensuring accurate and timely processing of benefits-related transactions, and providing employee support regarding their benefits. This role involves close collaboration with HR teams, insurance carriers, and international travel assistance providers to maintain efficient and effective benefits operations.
Position Responsibilities
- Maintain a master census data listing for new hires, status changes, and terminations; submit forms to insurance carriers.
- Provide new hires with benefit package information, registration instructions, ID cards, and details on the claiming process.
- Assist employees with claim issues, coverage queries, requests for proof of medical coverage, and guarantee of payment to providers.
- Download monthly invoices, check for accuracy, and submit for payment.
- Set up medical coverage for international business travellers.
- Manage life insurance claims, short-term and long-term disability claims, leaves of absence, workers’ compensation claims, as well as related benefit extensions, survivor benefits, and conversion options.
- Provide information for new bid documents on insurance company capabilities and restrictions in new countries, including quotations of benefit costs.
- Monitor medical evacuations and requests for assistance sent to international travel assistance providers.
- Maintain emergency operation procedures and authorized person listings with international travel assistance providers; educate HR teams at mine sites on procedures.
- Report month-end benefit expenses to the finance team for intercompany billing, prepare year-end taxable benefit statements
- Record assessable wages from international payroll files for calculating workers’ compensation premiums; send monthly accruals to finance.
- Provide data for renewals and participate in negotiations and decision-making, review annual contracts.
- Participate in provider meetings and work closely with consultants.
- Develop and distribute communication and education materials related to benefits.
- Collaborate closely with HR teams at mine sites.
Position Requirements
- Human Resources or Office Administration/Business Administration Diploma
- 3-5 years of benefits administration experience
- CEBS courses an asset
- Training in group benefits
