Position Overview
Dolphin Labs is seeking a talented, experienced electrical engineer to join their team. As an early-stage startup, you’ll have a unique opportunity to contribute to developing renewable wave energy technology. You’ll work closely with the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Product Officer to design and develop the electrical systems of the xNode, which includes power generation, energy storage, control systems, and interfaces to sensors. Additionally, you will be involved in electronic designs for embedded systems, firmware and software development, and sea-based data collection and analysis. This is a rare chance to be part of something extraordinary and make a significant impact in the field of remote power generation for defense, commercial, and ocean science applications.
Responsibilities:
- Support the design, assembly, and testing of the xNode power generation drivetrain and test stand actuator that simulates ocean waves (the drivetrain test stand).
- Lead the design, testing, and integration of electrical circuits and energy storage, as well as the selection of electrical component hardware.
- Development of controller and embedded system firmware; integration of environmental and acoustic sensors; and RF, cellular, and satellite communications.
- Support the design, assembly, and ocean testing of full xNode
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience
- Experience with custom power electronics solutions, programming and debugging electrical circuit boards or embedded systems, DC power distribution, and microcontrollers
- Ability to take ownership of the xNode electrical system
- Programming experience in C, C++, and/or Python
- Electronic systems, serial and ethernet communications, and sensor integration
- Experience working with external vendors, including developing specifications, managing progress, and reviewing deliverables (both hardware and written docs
- Experience working on systems deployed in marine environments is considered beneficial
