Position Profile:
We seek a Compliance Legal Counsel with a legal background to lead global audits, support our Compliance department, and monitor adherence to legal and regulatory requirements. The role involves providing training, identifying risks, and effectively collaborating with teams to address compliance issues.
This position requires strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across various functions. We seek an individual with a growth mindset driven by continuous improvement who is adaptable to changing business needs and committed to accountability, engagement, and delivering high-quality performance. This position reports to the Group General Counsel.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance Framework and Policy Management:
- Assist in mapping all existing compliance policies and procedures to ensure a comprehensive understanding and documentation of the compliance framework, focusing on legal aspects.
- Contribute to the ongoing updates of compliance policies and procedures to reflect current regulations, legal standards, and organizational needs.
- Support developing and implementing a testing matrix or solution for identified compliance obligations, ensuring effective global monitoring across legal and regulatory requirements.
Audit and Reporting:
- Organize and analyze historical data, including internal audit results, to support compliance initiatives and pinpoint areas for legal and operational improvement.
- Contribute to creating internal audit conclusions and reports, disseminating findings to management for timely communication of compliance status and potential legal ramifications.
- Assist in developing yearly integrated audit reports summarizing audit activities, findings, and corrective actions while addressing legal compliance and broader organizational needs.
- Maintain a historical audit repository, track trends, and analyze data to support continuous improvement and informed strategic decision-making.
- Facilitate the creation of compliance reports compatible with ESP requirements, ensuring adherence to relevant reporting standards.
- Assist in preparing the annual compliance report, highlighting key activities, findings, and improvements related to compliance and legal obligations.
Risk Management and Corrective Actions:
- Participate in the root cause analyses of audit failures, proposing and implementing corrective measures to address identified issues, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
- Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate audits, ensuring effective communication and resolution of any identified legal or compliance issues.
Audit Function Support:
- Support the establishment of the new Audit Function, contributing to the design and implementation of a robust compliance framework.
- Draft internal regulations governing the audit function to create clear guidelines and procedures that align with legal requirements and best practices.
- Support mapping compliance obligations within the program to ensure comprehensive coverage and effective management of legal and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in creating an audit plan for various audit types, outlining the scope, objectives, and methodology to guide the audit process.
- Aid in developing standardized audit formats and reporting templates to ensure consistency and clarity in documentation.
- Collaborate on formulating a methodology, with CFO approval, for gathering information needed for internal compliance reporting, ensuring alignment with legal requirements.
- Contribute to creating an audit calendar, approved by the CFO, to schedule and manage all audit activities and deadlines effectively.
- Assist in developing a methodology, approved by the CFO, for tracking historical data and linking business unit performance with corrective actions from the parent company.
- Execute audits in all business units remotely or onsite as required.
Additional Opportunities:
- Perform functionally separate internal compliance investigations for regional compliance officers as assigned by the compliance committee.
- Assist in updating and maintaining the existing compliance program to ensure its effectiveness and relevance.
- Provide face-to-face training to targeted groups within the Redpath entities to enhance compliance awareness and understanding.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: Master’s degree in legal studies (LLM)
- Certifications: RIMS CRM, GRCP, or similar certifications are assets.
- Professional Membership: A member in good standing of the Bar Association or Law Society from any jurisdiction.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years experience leading full-cycle audits and managing compliance programs.
- Language Skills: German proficiency is desirable.

- Travel: Global Travel for audits and overtime may be required.
- Work Model: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote)
- Salary Range: $100k – $120k
